As a foreman on a construction site, they build roads, worker dormitories (a human camp), oversee the assembly of excavators, and the actual drilling of the well site, especially in remote locations. They are also part of the troubleshooter, solving problems and facilitating.. It’s a TV formula, but from a writer who will be remembered decades from now as Norman Lear is now. The difference seems to be in geography.
Irrelevance to the mother-daughter-father-family dynamic?
This is another niche western show, and brilliant marketing combined with great performances from high-quality actors. Accuracy issues in the oil industry? Sure. Yes.
Larter gives a top-notch performance and looks phenomenal
Does that mean none of this plays out the same way in real life? Never mind, it’s a dynamic production and fun to watch. Thornton is designed for the role, although I read that it was only originally written. Lots of interesting stuff, except for the one oddity that Demi Moore is in all 10 episodes.
If not, I wonder what the deal is there
I’ve watched all 5 that have aired up to this point, and unless it’s just me, I only remember seeing and hearing her once or so, in her pool, for a brief moment. Hamm’s character isn’t that visible either, but he’s played well and manages to succeed, but Moore just hasn’t been allowed to add anything yet. Maybe that’s how it’s written and she’ll play a role in future episodes.
