Charles, a retiree, gets a new lease on life when he responds to a private detective’s ad and becomes a mole in a secret investigation at a nursing home. Based on the Chilean documentary “El Agente Topo”. Remake of Agent Duplo (2020). Ted Danson, about 76, plays Charles, about 76, a retired engineering professor living in San Francisco. He is also the producer of this series, which stands out from the majority by avoiding dialogues with all-too-common obscene language. In fact, this makes it very clean and beautiful. In the story, his wife had died about a year ago from complications of Alzheimer’s. He is healthy, but his daily life may bore him. He has a habit of reading magazines and newspapers and often cuts out an interesting copy to send to his married daughter in Sacramento. One day, he sees a small advertisement through a cut-out hole. SpanishLooking for someone between the ages of 75 and 85 for a specific job. This leads him to a private investigator hired by a man whose mother lives in some sort of luxury nursing home in San Francisco, significant jewelry was stolen, and whose son wants the thief caught. Charles will be the key, so they hire him to check on the scene, observe, and report back, as he’s the one who uncovers what’s going on. Ted Danson is perfect for this role, which he plays with a lot of humor. It quickly becomes less about who the thief was and more about relationships. The cast of characters are played by a group of excellent actors, many of them old favorites we’ve come to know from the last 50 or so years. My wife and I enjoyed streaming. After watching the first three episodes in one evening, we watched the last five episodes in one go after our usual Saturday night steak and wine dinner. The ending sets up a sequel, I hope they make one. One of the most beautiful we have ever seen.
