The author returns to the plot of his hometown of Jerusalem in search of inspiration for his next book, only to discover that the townspeople are being attacked by a bloodthirsty vampire. He wants to move away from the sexier, more romantic undead that have infected pop culture over the past quarter-century, thanks to everything from Interview with the Vampire to Sunset to The Vampire Diaries. As Ben reads old newspapers on microfilm at the library, the headline reads “Local Couple Victimized by DUI.” The article is believed to have been printed in 1956, at a time when the term “DUI” was not yet in use. So to speak, it’s very average
Sundown was written and performed by Gordon Lightfoot, courtesy of Warner Records under arrangement with Warner Music Group Film & Television Licensing. First of all, I have to say that even when Stephen King’s adaptation is weak, it is at least still watchable. This is a testament to King’s work. It’s fortunate that this film is a King film.
But every aspect of the story that unfolds is neglected
I was very nervous at the beginning of the film, I liked everything, there was an atmosphere of anxiety and it felt very real. Very quickly we get to the point where people just disappear from the town. It happens so fast and the rest of the people just “know” the reason is vampires. They also seem to know who the main vampire is from the beginning and it makes no sense.
In a vampire movie
I’ve seen some incredibly bad horror movies in my life and this one isn’t bad, it’s just too fast. Plus, there is no doom. Shame. If it had been an 8-10 episode miniseries, it would have worked.
The actors are
